A Guide to Siesta Key Spring Break for Families

February 27, 2020

Did you know Siesta Key is a top destination for families on spring break? In Siesta Key, there’s more to just sitting beachside with a margarita in hand (although we enjoy that as well), there is also a plethora of other ways to enjoy Siesta Key in the spring. To help you start planning, here is our guide to the perfect Siesta Key spring break for families.

Dance your heart out

Let the rhythm of the music move you every Sunday night with the Siesta Key Drum Circle. Listen and dance to the impromptu drumbeats that fill the evening as the sun sets on another wonderful day in Siesta Key. While there is no specific starting time, spectators can expect the show to start around an hour before sunset.

Attend the Siesta Fiesta

While Siesta Key is host to a variety of events throughout the year, everyone looks forward to the sprig time Siesta Fiesta in April. Stroll down the beach as you shop from over 200 local vendors and artists selling everything from fine art to handmade crafts and jewelry. Take advantage of special discounts and deals during the festival from the local restaurants and shops. Plus, visitors will enjoy live music and of course the beautiful backdrop of Siesta Key beach.

Visit the Ringling Museum

Not your typical museum, the Ringling features collections of artworks from circus baron John Ringling. With unique exhibits that will keep the kids’ attention and family programming, this is a great add on to any Siesta Key spring break for families.

Take the kids snorkeling

Take your adventures offshore with snorkeling the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Snorkeling is an activity the entire family can enjoy with no prior experience required. Siesta Key is home to two popular snorkeling spots; Point of Rocks and Turtle Beach.

Shelling at Turtle Beach

After snorkeling at Turtle Beach, spend some time with the kids and go shelling. Turtle Beach is a popular place to find all different types of shells, and take a few home with you as a memento of your trip. The beach is also family-friendly with picnic tables, restrooms, playground, and more.
